Social Making 2018

Following on from the success of its inaugural Social Making symposium and securing our National Portfolio Organisation funding from Arts Council England to 2022, Take A Part in partnership with Plymouth University  are delivering a new iteration of our international symposium Social MakingIdentity and Longing.

Our 2016 successful symposium Social Making: Now and Next, explored aspects of socially engaged practice; methodologies to approaching socially engaged work, and the impacts on audiences and communities it engages with.

As a result of 2016’s research, Take A Part produced a final publication, Social Making Socially Engaged Practice Now and Next. It includes two reports: ‘Social Making’ by Kim Wide, Director of Take A Part and ‘Almost Live’ by Vickie Fear, Programme Delivery Coordinator at Plymouth Arts Centre. It features a case study on Take A Part, written by Dr Rory Shand and Kim Wide, and another case study on Effervescent, written by Director of Effervescent, Eloise Malone.

We will be shortly announcing a Save The Date for Social Making 2018 and will keep this page up to date with speakers, plenaries, calls for papers and bursaries.

See you next June!
