Social Making 2018
We’ve had an incredible 2 days hosting our second Social Making symposium at Devonport Guildhall.

From incredible speakers including;  Freï von Fräähsen, Tom Marshman, Sinead Dowling, Michael  Fortune, Rommi Smith and Patrick Fox (to name just a few!)  to inspiring Pecha Kucha’s presented by artists and arts projects to the very generous thoughts and contributions of all who came along Social Making 2018 was a wonderful experience!

Here at Take A Part we are so happy to be able to share and celebrate the wonderful projects taking place across the country, and internationally, that keep socially engaged practice at the heart of their delivery.  We heard so many interesting stories about wonderful artists, projects and communities and we feel truly humbled by all that took place.

In the ‘cells’ area of the Guildhall three local artists were selected to exhibit their work, Bridey Borda, Tabatha Andrews and Tim Mills each presented beautiful work that engages with people in its creation.  We also hosted a ‘SOUP’ event in collaboration with Visual Arts Plymouth and The Box which resulted in the commissioning of three new arts projects for the city, we were really pleased to collaborate with local partners to make this possible.

In the next few months more evaluative material of the content will be available so keep checking back in here for more information.

Thanks to all our partners who helped to make this happen- Arts Council England, Plymouth Culture, Plymouth City Council, RIO (and column Bakehouse), Visual Arts Plymouth, Plymouth College of Art and The Real Junk Food Company.
