We were very sad to learn that one of Take A Part’s founders Michael Bridgwater died at the start of December. Our Sculpting Saltram project culminated yesterday with a launch event at the site involving all the artists that had worked on the project and our beautiful Shed On Wheels visiting too! Sculpting Saltram has been running over the last 18 months and across that time we have been able to work with 25 young people, three artists and around 10 volunteers.  We have created three awesome sculptures and alongside those the team at Saltram has created some fantastic play areas...

The third and final sculpture as a part of our Sculpting Saltram project was completed this week by artist Anna Boland. The large and impressive pieces of oak came from the site of Saltram itself and were worked on tirelessly by Anna alongside young people from Stonehouse, air cadets and numerous scores of Saltram volunteers.  Each piece was hand carved following a the lines of a drawn out tank. This week saw the launch of the new Kinterbury Creek bridge in Barne Barton. The project, which was in collaboration with community members, Plymouth City Council and Muf Architecture/art, started last year and culminated this week with the launch event.  The community were treated to activities with the beach ranges and beautiful sunshine as the ribbon was cut to signify the official opening.
